2D Vs 3D simulation

Post by vshinde »

Dear Code Saturne team,

I have spurious peaks in 'pressure time profile' at a monitoring point in 2D configuration. I do not observe these spikes in 3D simulation.

The simulation I am carrying out is a flow in an array of cylinders. It is at Re=5680 using LES. I do have checked with V2F turbulence model in 2D configuration as well, I still observe the spikes.

Please suggest if there are some restriction over usage of 2D. Or if I need to change some numerical parameters.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Which version of Code_Saturne are you using?
There is no restriction over 2D computations, but 2D with LES make no sense.
About pressure oscillations with V2F in 2D configuration, what is the probe position? The mesh quality? The options used?

You could post a computation listing, maybe it will help us to understand the problem.

Hello,

Thank you.

I am using the version 2.0.4 of Code Saturne.

Sorry for delay in reply. I had to run the simulation for V2F model again :)

Please find the listing file attached with email. Let me mention the Reynolds number again 5680. I was wondering if there is a different numerical formulation for high Reynolds 2D simulations in Code Saturne?

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

Sorry for the delay.

Your computation blows up from the first iterations... Your mesh seems to be not refined enough.
What did you mean by different numerical formulation for high Reynolds ? There are different turbulence models and wall functions, but the numerical formulation is still the same.
