Hi,
Is it possible to model free surface flow, solidification and conjugate heat transfer in code_saturne?
For example liquid metal being poured into a vessel and solidifying.
There would be heat transfer between the fluid and vessel as well as the vessel and environment
Freesurface flows, solidification and CHT

Re: Freesurface flows, solidification and CHT
Hello,
There are examples of each of these phenomena being simulated with code_saturne, but not all 3 together as far as I know.
For solidification, I am not familiar with the details of the work, which is still in progress, and movind to the newer CDO-based schemes (there was a presentation at last year's user meeting, whose slides have just been uploaded: http://code-saturne.org/cms/sites/defau ... /DEMAY.pdf).
For free surfaces, either ALE or VOF is usable, with VOF being a more recent addition.
For conjugate heat transfer, internal coupling is available (though the combination with radiation is not yet available).
Best regards,
Yvan

Yvan,
Thanks for the response, it answers the question perfectly.
