Syrthes Periodicity

Post by rbecker »

Dear EDF-Developers,

I am experimenting with Saturne-Syrthes Coupling and have encountered some problems in case of periodic boundaries. The nodes on the edges from periodic faces to boundary faces with heat transfer receive much to less heat flux from Saturne. To gain insight I have tried a Syrthes Caluclation alone.
The setup is a slab stretched along the X-axis with periodic boundaries (translation) along Z-Axis and mixed boundary conditions in the faces normal to Y. Result is the some as in the coupled equation. The edges are cold.
Please give me some advice, if either I made an error when meshing or with the syrthes setup.

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards,
Ralf

Hello Ralf,

I have read about how Syrthes handles periodicity in their user documentation of many vears (and versions) ago, but have not used that feature, so I can try to take a look in a few days, but can't guarantee I'd notice an error.

I can also try to check with the Syrthes developers, but they are a very small (and part-time) team, with many other priorities...

Note that Code_Saturne will have a built-in capacity for conjugate heat transfer in the next version.

Regards,

Yvan
