Custom checkpoint files for starting RANS simulation

Hello everyone,
I'm kinda new to code_saturne and i'm trying to restart a RANS simulation using already existing thermochemical fields obtained via a different code. I saw that cs is provided with a restart function in both the GUI and the source code but i can't manage to access/modify the .csc files in the checkpoint folder. So i was wondering, is it actually possible to restart a computation in cs using "custom" chekpoint files? And if it is, how can i manage to do it?
