Problem of heavy fuel oil combustion in saturne3.0.1

Post by yhuang »

Hi, everyone

when I use the model of heavy fuel oil combustion, there is an error(file below). How did this happen? I followed the user_example.
By the way, I want to know what's the fuel in "dp_FUE" as the example in ./data/thch.

Thank you very much!

Hello,

You did not provide enough information to explain the error, so please reread the usage recommendations for the list of useful files.

Also, I recommend upgrading your version to at least the 3.0.6 bugfix release, or better, 4.0.

Finally, heavy oil combustion is probably the least recently used combustion module, with less complete validation, so you may encounter some bugs. In this case, it will be easier for us to fix them in version 4.0 than 3.0 (no one has recently worked on fuel combustion in version 3.0).

Hello,

I see no error in that series of files, so it is hard to tell what is wrong.

In any case, I recommend at least testing with 3.0.6, and if that fails also, posting the rest of your setup (i.e. your mesh) so I can try to reproduce the issue. If it is simple to fix, I'll fix it. If it is more complex to fix, I'll try to get help from colleagues to fix it in version 4.0 (In any case, if you can run tests both on 3.0.6 and 4.0.0, it would be interesting feedback, and help us check what needs/does not need to be fixed).

I try the case in version 4.0 twice, but there were always errors. The detail is below.

Hello,

I'll take a look, and see if it is easy to fix or needs a combustion specialist...

Could you also post or send me a link to your mesh ?

Hello,

There was indeed a bug; which will be fixed in 4.0.1 (which I hope to release this week).

while waiting for 4.0.1, you can simply add the attached file to your SRC directory. I still
get a crash, but at the 2nd iteration, relative to inlet boundary conditions, so you probably
need to improve cs_user_boundary_conditions.f90 to make sure you have a fully-defined inlet
(I did not check for details).
