Modeling of wave breaking with code-saturne ??

Post by ghania »

Hello!

My thesis focuses on the modeling of wave breaking using the LES (Large Eddy Simulation), ie I want to model turbulent free-surface flow between two immiscible fluids (air / water).
to do this, I had to look a CFD code( Navier-Stokes solver ), and I came across code saturn :)

You users and mastering of code saturne, I would like to have your opinion and advice on the possibility and feasibility of establishing my simulation with this code, and if so , is there anyone who can help me and explain to me how I could introduce or generate a wave on the same code. : cry:

please it's urgent

Thank you in advance!

Hi - at University of Manchester there has been people look at free surface and waves extending the initial developments in Code_Saturne but, as Jacques says, this is not using the VOF approach and so cannot simulate wave breaking.

You can try OpenFOAM (which is open source) or CFX which both have VOF capabilities. You may also want to investigate SPH (smoothed particle hydrodynamics) - see http://www.mace.manchester.ac.uk/our-re ... y/#video_3
