Hi

I have a cylinder in salome and modelised it in saturne (radius = 10cm and h =100cm (along the Y axis) ), the top face is open, the bottom face is a wall and the two boundaries (right and left of cylinder) are the wall too.

I want to fill my cylinder with water at a levet of, only, 40cm (along Y axis). How can I do to set the water level in my cylinder?

Is I defined the mesh inside the cylinder intill my desired level of water?

Thank you

Hello,

I'm not sure to understand well. Your question is: how to fill your cylinder with water (40cm) and air (60cm remaining) and simulate this with Code_Saturne (single phase code)?

For the free surface you can use the ALE module, but I think it's very difficult to couple 2 instances of Code_Saturne with a coupled free surface.

The simplest way is to mesh only 40cm along y, and impose a symmetry on the top. You can also impose heat flux if you need to consider heat transfers

Best regards,
JF

Thank you Jacques, I just wanted to confirm the idea of meshing just 40 cm. thank you for confirmation!.

But how do I needed to have water in 40cm (water immobile), since I have no input or output? in any menu of Saturne must say I've got water in 40cm?

Thank's

Your mesh has a length of 40cm so the fluid filled 40cm. :?

Ah ok, so I have just to modify the physical properties of my fluid?. (i.e imposed the properties of water: density of water, specific heat of water, etc..) and without imposing any speed since I have not any inlet?. :?

yes you're right, doing this you set a volume filled with water

Thank you Pisolino and Jacques ! :)

It now remains the problem of coupling the rotation of tubine with a fixed medium ! topic publied in this site "turbine modeling" ....I walk slowly in this coupling!!!
