Particle dispersion model of Code_Saturne

Post by lehongduc »

Hi,

I'm simulating a gas-particles flow with code_saturne v3.2. I see that I can activate a particle turbulent dispersion model in Code_Saturne by setting IDISTU=1. I found in the theory guide of code_saturne V4.0 that a kinematic dispersion is explained (chap.10.5.3) but i'm not sure it is the same as turbulent dispersion.
I would like to know which particle turbulent dispersion model used by Code_Saturne?
A french documentary is ok for me.

Thank you in advance,

Hello,

I hope someone else can answer that, because I'll be out of office for the following 2 weeks, and don't have access to our internal network. So I can't even check which parts of our older Lagrangian documentation are "unrestricted" and can be sent to you (we need to merge those documents with the theory documentation in the future, but it's a large task...).

Maybe Mathieu or Céline can help, if they notice this post ?

Hello all,

I'm still looking for the answers of my question which was: Which is the theoretical model of particle turbulent dispersion if I activate IDISTU = 1 in uslag1.f90? I cound'nt find the answers in theory guild of CSv4.0.

Thanks you for your help.

Hello, and sorry for the delay,

as Yvan said, the Lagrangian module theoretical part (physical modeling and trajectography step) is currently described in internal reports, which will be in the future translated and integrated in the general theoretical manual of Code_Saturne.

For a description of the turbulent dispersion (Langevin) model, several articles have been written by Jean-Pierre Minier and co-workers on the subject. A review is "The pdf approach to turbulent polydispersed two-phase flows", Phys. Report, Minier and Peirano, 2001.

In the open (and free) literature -in french-, you have a short description of the model at page 23 of my Ph.D thesis manuscript (I know it sounds as self-promotion, but it is the first reference I can think of)

http://chercheurs.edf.com/fichiers/fcke ... ngo_vf.pdf

To simulate this model you also have to activate the Complete model for turbulent dispersion in which you also have to prescribe a preferential direction of the flow. If you keep the default choices, the term <Up - Uf>dUp/dx will be neglected, and the Lagrangian particle correlation timescale T_L will be isotropic.

best;
