Flow around a cylinder: Fluid-structure interaction

Post by Yvan Fournier »

This is a demo case in order to illustrate the mobile mesh (ALE) capability of Code_Saturne in the frame of Fluid-structure interaction. This occurs when fluid flow causes displacement or deformation of the structure. This deformation, in turn, changes the boundary conditions for the fluid flow.

The setup is provided as an example for Code_Saturne 5.0 (adapted from an older setup).

Just as a suggestion, perhaps this could be used to update the tutorial page (which still has documentation for running the test with version 2.0) ?

Could you explain how cylinder.mesh was constructed? The gif file is FANTASTIC

Hello,

The mesh was built some years ago, but is basically based on a "O" mesh, joined with a Cartesian grid (or extruded in different directions) outside this zone. Using a current Salome version, building a mesh of this type can be done easily.

Best regards,

Yvan
