Problem on Physical groups of GMSH mesh on CS 4.0.5

Post by kennethchaw »

Dear all,

Im currently using Code_Saturne 4.0.5 on Windows 8.1.
I have generated a mesh using GMSH with physical groups defined.
It seems normal when I define the boundary conditions in CS, however it failed to run and prompted error: Some boundary condition definitions are incomplete or incorrect. etc. Suppose I have defined the physical groups accordingly, wonder why this error pops up.

I attached the files here:https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BxkfF ... kxrcHdkcW8

Please help.
Thanks.

Hello,

Yes, the GMSH conversion has not been updated in quite a long time, and does not use the physical group description strings, but only the group numbers. I'll try to improve this in a future version, but in the meantime, you can find the correspondence in GMSH.

You can also check the matching group ids by visualizing the ouptut of the "preprocessing mode" or "check mesh" and using the "extract blocks" filter in ParaView for example.

Best regards,

Hi,

Thanks for the reply,

But i not really understand how do you check the correspondence.?

I have no clue how should I modify the gmsh geo file to correspond it with CS.

I tried extract block for the error.CASE too, but i do not know how to interpret it.

Sorry if these are basic questions.

Thanks !

Hello,

Under ParaView, the block names match the physical group numbers from Gmsh.

Otherwise, under Gmsh, if you open "Tools -> Visibility", the popup window will contain a table with the physical group names and matching numbers. Those are the numbers you may use for selection.

I'll try to add handling of physical group names for version 5.0.

Best regards,

Yvan
