Hello Ralf,

Thanks for the feedback. A colleague has recently worked on improving the gradient extended neighborhood restriction, an this seems to reduce artefacts on some cases. This appears as "optimized" extended neighborhood in the gradient options on the "master" branch, and will be in version 7.3.

I can't guarantee this will work for you, but it can be interesting to try, at least for a tetrahedral mesh.
