periodic channel flow pressure checker boarding

Hello,

I am trying to model a simple channel flow (I have tried with two rough walls or two smooth) using LES where the flow is periodic between the outlet and inlet. Xml and source files attached.

I am consistently getting an error where after roughly one domain traverse the pressure struggles to converge and then goes crazy.

I initially tried with a flat plate type simulation which gave the same behaviour and switched to channel flow in the hope that not having an infinitely increasing boundary layer would solve it.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? I get the same behaviour with both a course or fine grid, rough or smooth wall, initial perturbed velocity or stationary, a large or small tilmestep, and version 4.0 and 4.1.

I should not that if I choose unsteady flow, but with no turbulence model, then I do not have this issue.

Thanks, any help much appreciated!

Susan
