Some questions on getting strain rate or gradient/derivative

Post by MartianDuan »

Dear developers and users,

I am now working on the flow among fuel bundle by using LES and code_saturne 3.0.1.

I need to calculate the terms in the tubulent kenitic energy equation and Reynolds stresses euqations, some of which requires the fluctuating strain rate. Is there any possible to access the strain rate tensor directly? (I belive it is saved somewhere, since some SGS modle requires such strain rate.) If so, how can I get it index number?

Before I set this topic i did several researches. Although I did not find how access to the strain rate directly, I found there are several subroutines allow me to reconstruct the gradient. However some questions still arise.

1. Dose code saturne give the index number to this recontructed graidient? If so how can I find it?

2. If not how can save it in the output file? I think it is possible to treat each component as an user defined saclars. But I have no idea about which subroutine would allow me to define the equation of the scalar.

Waiting for the replys.

Thanks in advance,

Yu.
