orthotropic and temperature-dependent heat conduction in Syrthes possible?

Post by kathi »

hello,

is it possible with Syrthes to model an orthotropic AND temperature-dependent heat conduction?

In the user guide (syrthes4_user_guide.pdf) I find in chap 3.1.3
"Materials handled" :

Cp = Cp (x, y, z, t, T, . . . )

which means that the heat conduc coef may depend on Temperature.

Is this valid also for orthotropic heat conduction? And which user subroutine must I use for this?

Many thanks in advance for you help,

Regards

Hello,

I see no reason why it should not be possible. I guess you need to check in user_cond.c, but I am not a regular Syrthes user, so never tried it.

If your case includes fluid flow and no transparent radiation coupling or contact thermal resistances, you could also try it using Code_Saturne's internal thermal coupling, which will allow such heat conduction. It would probably be a bit slower than Syrthes, but have the more complete Code_Saturne toolchain.

Best regards,

Yvan
