Re: definition of various pressures
Hello Xing Jian, not that we will be able to find the answer here, but based on the manuals, I am beginning to think code_saturne's "total pressure" is actually the traditional static pressure, and code_saturne's "pressure" is actually some sort of reduced pressure they use in th...

Code_Staurne 5.0 check mesh
I downloaded and installed version 5.0 last night and upon trying to run an existing case through the GUI, I found that the "Calculation environment - > Mesh quality criteria" item is no longer there? This would create the check mesh file from which to later import boundary conditions - ve...

Re: definition of various pressures
Thanks Xing Jian, are you saying then that "pressure" as reported by Salome/ParaVis includes BOTH the traditional static pressure AND the elevation pressure. In other words, in my world, total pressure = static pressure + dynamic (or velocity) pressure + elevation (or hydrostatic)pressure,...

Re: definition of various pressures
Most excellent, thanks Yvan. I am downloading it right now and will start playing with it. Perhaps (hopefully) the head loss measurement feature will take care of everything. Really appreciate your support on this forum. Always great to be able to put questions to the community. Hello, I am not a sp...

Re: definition of various pressures
Thanks Yvan. I cannot find the head loss functionality in 4.0.6. I suppose it was introduced later? The website says that only the 4.0 series is stable and the next stable series is 5.0, but that is not out yet? I like to work with the stable versions only. In the meantime, I think it would really h...

definition of various pressures
I am trying to use code_saturne to determine the pressure loss across custom fittings in air ducts (HVAC). To this end, I am modeling a straight duct, comprising an entrance and an exit, and determine the total pressure drop between inlet and outlet. Then I insert the fitting in question between ent...

Re: Salome/CS for HVAC in Theater
Thank you Yvan. I reviewed the RESU/check_mesh/check_mesh.log file more carefully. Presumably it has similar information in it as you refer to. Indeed, it does complain a lot, though I must say, the messages are rather cryptic from where I stand. Which Filter in particular are you using in ParaVIS t...

Re: Salome/CS for HVAC in Theater
Hello Yvan, When I decreased the time step, it then never stopped the runcase.bat file, like it did before, but the listing file nevertheless quickly showed very large and implausible numbers for all kinds of variables, at which point I terminated the run. I used some factors other than 1.0 for some...

Re: Salome/CS for HVAC in Theater
OK, so shorter time steps or even steady state, some variation on MultiGrid/BiCG and upwind/SOLU, pressure/velocity coupling or even ramping up the flow from the supplies linearly with time does not yield a solution either. I am beginning to think that either the mesh is just completely inappropriat...

Re: Salome/CS for HVAC in Theater
Thanks Yvan, I was beginning to think that there was some sort of file limitation. So, I restarted my case yesterday with the local variable variable time step you mentioned (presumably "Time step limitation with the local thermal time step" under Numerical parameters -> Time step?) - to n...
