Re: Cavity flow for Re>1000

Hi All I have considered eight new cases: four with a grid of 129 on side and four based on a grid of 200 on side. For each resolution I have run the cavity calculation for mu=0.0002, with four values of the time increment: 0.01,0.02,0.05 and 0.1. The last value is the one used in the Cavity tutoria...

Cavity flow for Re>1000

Hi all I have reproduced the results described in: https://www.code-saturne.org/cms/sites/default/files/file_attach/Tutorial/version-3.0/Shear-driven-cavity-flow.pdf As in that document I find that the results of the simulation agree quite well with results published by Ghia et al 1982 for Re=1000. ...

Re: Converting code-saturne IO files to something readable.

Hi (1) As far as Paraview is concerned I have never been able to return to spreadsheet view after either the boundary or fluid domain case files were loaded. This may be because the Paraview package for debian bullseye is bugful. (2) I have found that if I set the Writer file (postprocessing page in...

Converting code-saturne IO files to something readable.

Hi As part of a different question I have enquired before how to get direct (ie without paraview/paravis) access to code saturne output, and now I would also like to have access to input (MED) files. A useful answer was to use the code-saturne bdump utility, but I havent figured out how that would w...

Re: Boundary Conditions

Hi

This gets more and more interesting. The only thing I can add for now, is that I want to combine 'fixed' rather than 'sliding' wall with Neumann (ie v=w=0), but I don't suppose that makes any difference. Let me emphasize that there is no rush on my side. I am continuing to explore code-saturne.

Re: Boundary Conditions

Hi and many thanks for your help. I am attaching a new tarball motrouble.tar which has the same files as yesterday with the xml and med files used in those runs. Those two files, without the cs_user_boundary_conditions.f90 in /SRC, give the proper solution for a lid-drven cavity (constant u velocity...

Re: Boundary Conditions

Hi You won't be surprised the hear that my 1st try failed. The compiler compiled with only warnings about unused variables, but the execution threw errors. I have attached a tar file with the cs_user... .f90 file from the SRC directory, the file named error found in 20200601-1700, and the entire pos...

Could you explain how cylinder.mesh was constructed? The gif file is FANTASTIC

Re: Boundary Conditions

Hi and thank you for your clear instructions. I have written subroutine cs_user_boundary_conditions.f90 and placed it in CASE3/SRC. To be clear, what I want to do is replace the Dirichlet condition on u in my sliding wall by a condition on du/dy. Both v and w should remain zero. ............. !-----...

Re: Boundary Conditions

Hi Yvan Your team is awesome for prompt replies. Thanks so much for that, and thanks much more for this incredible tool. In fluids the classic cavity flow comes in two flavors: lid-driven, where the velocity is prescribed on the open boundary and shear driven, where the stress (du/dy) is prescribed ...
